VICUSdt presents an innovative permanent magnet motor in Navalia.

The Galician company VICUSdt presents in Navalia the recent successes in their technology developments, which places it as one of the references regarding design of innovative technology applied to naval sector. The star product released to the public at the fair is a new permanent magnet motor for hybrid propulsion in vessels, which can function as motor and generator.
The machine is a prototype with an output of 25 kW and 1315 rpm. During trials carried out, this device has shown very favorable characteristics of efficiency and energy savings and power to weight ratio.
This engine developed by VICUSdt is an important step forward in the research conducted by the company, investigating new types of direct drive electric motor with high torque density. In addition, the manufacture of this engine of 25 kW VICUSdt is a new milestone in the race for consolidation within the sector of innovative electric drives.
INFINITE ADVANTAGES
The permanent magnet motor is directly connected to the load and can provide more power with a smaller unit. This solution provides speed control very rigorous and high energy efficiency without gearboxes, pulse encoders or auxiliary components.
As this device is synchronous (no rotor slip), very precise speeds of the static rotors are achieved and the compensation needs are eliminated, helping to improve the dynamic control of the engine. It is also quieter than most conventional engines because of the way it is built and it is cooled.
Safety and quality are two obvious characteristics of this engine. The magnet is made of neodymium, and it is produced under the highest standards for extremely intense magnetic fields, they do not deteriorate and the torque desired is developed. This magnetic field can not leave the confines of the motor frame. This is done through a next-generation polymer packaging, obtaining an effective protection against corrosion in marine and underwater applications, as well as more compact systems are achieved operating in extreme conditions.
OTHER NEWS
This motor is not the only innovative work presented by VICUSdt during Navalia. Attendees could also learn the latest about the design of a propeller that generates a minimum level of radiated noise, developed for installation on a research vessel.
Moreover, the results of all energy optimization projects on ships in which VICUSdt has collaborated were revealed, carrying out studies in hydrodynamic behavior of hull shapes and propulsion plants, using the cutting-edge tools for computer simulation, improving their design.
In this sense, one of the most outstanding researches is the nationwide project of complete energy audits to be carried out in 27 boats.
The presence of VICUSdt in Navalia has received financial support from IGAPE.
