VICUSdt participates in E-fishing 2010

E-fishing 2010 is the first of a series of biannual conferences devoted to the study of energy efficiency in the fishing World, where this symposium aims to be a forum where experts from all over the world will present the latest advances in research and development in this area.
The conference will be held in Vigo from 18th to 20th of May 2010, coinciding with the celebration of NAVALIA, International Shipbuilding Exhibition. During three days, presentations related to the energy efficiency of fishing vessels and systems in general including all phases of fisheries, energy transformation, design of fishing vessels, auxiliary machinery, application of renewable energy and the use of new technologies will take place in Vigo.
This year, presentations carried out by scientists coming from the most prestigious research centres related to eco-efficiency will meet in E-fishing 2010. The Irish Sea Fisheries Borrad (Ireland), the Australian Maritime Collage (Australia), the Institute of Marine Sciences (Italy) or the Memorial University of Newfoundland (Canada) will join the conferences, among others.
The call has been very well received by the professionals of the maritime sector, due to the global economic crisis that applies especially to fisheries because of the negative effects of continued increases in fuel prices.
The organisation of E-fishing 2010 has reached an agreement with The Society of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineers (SNAME), and also has the support from other organizations and entities as CEPESCA, Tecnopeixe, ARVI, Baliño and Conselleria de Economía e Industria (Xunta de Galicia)
Vicus Desarrollos Tecnológicos is not limited only to the organisation, but will actively collaborate with the presentation of two papers related to the area of propulsion. These two papers fit the main lines of research of VICUSdt, addressing issues of the design of permanent magnet motors and their application to the marine world, taking into account the operational profiles of different fishing vessels, and the potential for energy recovery by wake adapted rudders.
There is an official website where further information can be found (www.e-fishing.eu).
